Re: Claw Trim
Exoticnutrition.com sells Silent Runner wheels with nail trimming strip included with wheel. Buying directly from them right now costs about $36.70 including the nail trimming strip, the Silent Runners are only 1/2 in bigger than the 8.5 in Wodent wheels. Easier to clean too. If you only want the wheel is costs about $26 inc. shipping. The robos should be fine in either wheel..
They make nail trimming strips for the Wodent Wheel too, the holes in the Wodent Wheel are smaller than the Silent Runner. I had to use baby oil on my Wodent Wheel cause it squeaks where the Silent Runner is completely silent

Re: Claw Trim
Due to the structure of hamster feet the sandpaper running strips are not suitable for them cinnamon bear. The foot structure is quite different from rats and mice. If you take a look you will see that the feet and quite flat with fleshy pads and these get damaged by running on sandpaper.
You must not even attempt it with pups in the nest. It can stress the mother and cause her to cull the pups. Even though she seems friendly the stress could still be there especially as she is so new to you and the pups are so young.
Use an egg cup to pop the food in and don't disturb her any more than that. Mothers will still cull litters up till about 3 weeks if they are disturbed.
Once all the eyes are open and wide open not just slitty you can start handling the pups and also mum.
I'd wait till about 4 weeks before clipping the nails. We use a wire sieve and pop the hamster in it so the claws drop through then we clip them from underneath with baby nail clippers. Secure scruffing and a quick clip is fine too once they are used to it.
