Hello
Sorry for late answer.

This weekend we had a family member of me on a visit. She knows about the hammy situation and was sad about it. So she is actually going to take of her for us. She lives a touri away, but the hammy stays in the family.

The hammys name is Lurvis

That's great news! Glad you were able to find Lurvis a home that he gets to stay in the family!

Excellent news - you'll feel much happier that it is someone you know and trust and your little hammy will be fine x

Yes.

The only thing who makes me a little worried,is that she has her days with episodes when she bites when I pur my hand down in her cage and near her. Should I check her at the vet before she leaves?

Hi Justme89. Just saw your latest update & I'm so happy you've found someone who can look after Lurvis. I know you've been worrying about this for some time & have had all sorts of different advice & a bit of confusion over the issues! So I'm really pleased for you.

Re: her biting. I think she probably does this due to decreasing awareness, maybe your hand frightens her as she didn't hear/sense you there? Her eyesight could be really bad, considering her grand age & how poor sighted hammies are anyway. Maybe hearing goes when they're older too, I'm not sure. It doesn't sound like something to be too concerned about, unless there are other changes in her behaviour that might indicate something is wrong.

I think a vet visit just before a house move/change of owner might stress your hammy a lot. She can settle in with your relative and then your relative could think about a vet visit at some stage if necessary.

I agree. Vet's visits are stressful enough for any hammy but as yours is about to go through big changes with owner, home etc. it'd be a good idea to keep things as low key as possible for her.
You've done a great job taking care of her to such a wonderful age, I get the feeling you're going to be thinking & worrying about her a lot even after she's moved!

I found a lump under her chin. I just dont hope it is something dangerous, but at her age, you never know.

That's not good, everything was going so good! I suppose it's not unusual to find lumps on hamsters when they are older

I don't think there is much you can do unless you want to have your family member take her to the vet after she gets settled?

Or you could take her & keep her for awhile longer

See what other members say?

I will se more at the lump tomorrow. It is quit a ride to the vet up where my mother lives, so I just did get much more to think about.

It scares the hell out of me. It is not sure it is a bad lump, but out of experience, it can turn around quick.
The only question I got is what if the lump is evil or the vet, if I`m going to a vet, dont know what it is :s
