Breathing problems, possible unexpected new additions or dreaming? Turn up volume!
There were loud squeaking sounds (I could hear it from across the room) among other sounds coming from Kaisha's tank which lasted for quite a while. It would be great if you watch the video and tell me what you think it could possibly be. There is a point towards the middle of the video where the squeaking stops which was followed by what sounded like popping sounds then the first few squeaks afterwards sounded as though she was in pain. I can still hear occasional rustling and eating sounds as I am typing this!
As some of you are aware, Kaisha and her sister are on pregnancy watch which is why I am slightly leaning towards new additions judging from the sounds I heard. I must admit though that part of me wants to lift up the nest to see if everything is okay while the other part of me doesn't want to just in case there are any surprises. I hope it is just her dreaming, moving around and eating *fingers crossed* https://youtu.be/rW15gFP9Cg0

Re: Breathing problems, possible unexpected new additions or dreaming? Turn up volume
I'm not too sure if it could be respiratory related though it sounds quite loud to be something like that.
Is she a dwarf? (I'm guessing so as she has a sister?)
If she does have pups she will most likely be in her nest for the majority of the time, I remember my dwarf had an oops litter around 10+ years ago and she hid her pups super well. I don't know much at all about dwarf litters though and I'm not sure if they're as protective as syrians. If not I think it would be okay to have a really quick peek, just so you can rule out if you need to take her to the vets or not because if it is a respiratory infection it's quite serious for rodents.
I'd wait for someone with more dwarf experience to comment on this though before you do anything, hope she's going to be okay

The sounds seem to me to be coming from only one source, but if there are babies it could just be one highly vocal pup. It sounds more like chirping than respiratory distress but I could be wrong.

It sounds to me like Mama may be cleaning a pup who is getting annoyed about it.
This is a recording of a nest of hammies I had. They an be very loud.

Whatever the cause of that strange noise was I do not know. Kaisha was up shortly after the video was taken doing her usual afternoon routine and was and still is completely fine. I did what I shouldn't of done and there was no sign of babies thankfully.
