Gap in hamster teeth
I caught P2 yawning a while ago and I noticed that there's a gap between his bottom teeth. I can't take a picture of it because I'm a bit scared of scruffing him by the neck and causing him too much stress. However I was thinking of what might have caused the gap and I came up with three reasons. Either his bottom teeth are too long. Or because he chews the metal stand of his wheel. I tried blowing him gently whenever I catch him chewing that. Or maybe it's because he chewed the chicken wire (cover of his cage) to freedom a few nights ago. He has chew toys and I also feed him seeds and dog biscuits every now and then. I'm so worried right now because it looks uncomfortable. What should I do?

Re: Gap in hamster teeth
Without seeing them it's hard to say but if he's been chewing metal then he may have damaged them & if they're no longer correctly aligned they won't wear down properly, if that is the case you need to get a vet to have a look & if needed they can clip them.

Re: Gap in hamster teeth
He should be fine till then if he's not really struggling to eat or anything I wouldn't worry too much about the wait.
We all get anxious about our hams, you're not alone there!

Re: Gap in hamster teeth
He is eating and drinking normal. Thanks again. I guess it's just extra difficult being a first time hammy mommy. Everything out of the usual thing raises a red flag and instantly makes me paranoid. Haha

Re: Gap in hamster teeth
Myrcella had a gap between her teeth but she's eating and drinking as much as she always did so she's fine, her teeth look better now too.
Do they look like this? -

Thank you. He was jolly playing with me last night and that made me calm down. I think I'm more stressed than him. Haha

Yes yes yes.. it somehow looks like Myrcella's. I'm glad that her teeth are better now. I hope the same with P2.
