Default Putting medicine in food

My Jocci has been given painkillers by the vet. I mixed them with her porridge ....which she loves ....so she eat it all so I know she's had the correct dose. I shall try mixing it with egg tomorrow, but it she won't eat the egg with the medicine on, do you think it would be okay to give her porridge daily? I'd be grateful for suggestions x

Yes, just make an amount that will get the meds into her. It won't hurt her. You might want to get some baby food, without any onion or garlic in it, for variety.

Porridge daily is fine but you could try baby food too, I find the ones for youngest babies, about 4 months are less likely to have sugar, salt or onion in them but you do need to check the ingredients.
I'd guess the meds just won't mix with egg very well but it might work ok.

Another tip. Just to give you something else to try:

Take a pestle & mortar from the kitchen (or a freezer bag and a rolling pin!)

Half a peanut
Half a mealworm
Small piece of Supreme Science Selective biscuit hamster food
Small piece of dried banana (from hamster food if you have any)
One shelled sunflower seed
Half a pumpkin seed (shelled)

Mash these up into a fine powder. Using a teaspoon, place the powdered mixture into a ramekin dish. Add one drop of cold water. Don`t add more as it may go sloppy. You want a marzipan-like consistence. You can add a drop more if it`s not binding.

Pull it all together with the teaspoon and split into small pieces. Allow to dry or leave for half an hour if needed quickly. These can be left to dry out completely, or use immediately while still soft. Mix in the medication while soft. If the medication has a foul taste, the hamster may sense this so it may not work, but the mixture usually has a nutty smell and my hamster loves these as home-made treats.

You can use alternatives if you don`t have the science selective food. I would use a small piece of rich tea biscuit if that`s all you have. Hope this helps. x
