Default IMPORTANT!!! Bald spot on Hammy's leg!!!!!

Hi guys. I really need your help. I was just going to get a photo of her to enter her in photo of the month and I noticed she has a bald spot on her leg or something. I've never noticed this on her before. Can't check her for symptoms of anything because I have a small cold. I really need to know what is happening! Please help! She's only about 1 1/2 years old! I don't wanna lose her yet!

Don't panic just yet!
It could be all sorts of things but firstly I'd check there's nothing in the cage she's rubbing up against that might have caused it. Check to see if you can find any fur that might have got caught on something too.
Does the skin look sore or any sign of a wound at all? I can't see too well from the photo.

Okay. Here is ALL of her information:

Nutrition: She has the Volkman: Hamster Gourmet. I mix in pinto beans, unsalted cashews, almonds, oats, and sunflower seeds. Her treats are:
*Sunflower seeds
*Chicken
*Turkey (Just once a year for thanksgiving)
*Cheerios
*Milkbone
*Bread (occasionally)
*Cheese (occasionally)
*Seed stick (once a year for Christmas)
*Yogurt drops (occasionally)
*Veggies (about a pinch once a week)
*Fruits (very tiny amounts only once or twice a month)

She has these toys. Perhaps her fur could have rubbed off on one of these?:
*Wheel
*Igloo
*Bordom Breaker (1 out of the four different types)
*Pumice rock for teeth
*Edible Stick
*Sand bath with the Chinchilla Bath Sand

She has the WARE Chew Proof Critter Cage from amazon.
She has a ceramic food bowl.
She is in the laundry room (she has to be used to it because she has been in there ever since we got her and just ignores the machines now).
It looks like she has been eating and drinking normally.
No sneezing, coughing, sluggish, or anything like that.
From the look of it there are no sores just the bald spot.
Skin is still intact.
If you need anymore info just let me know.

You might find this helpful. I have a pic of her cage setup attached.

If the wheel is quite narrow then she could be rubbing away the fur as she wheel runs. If it is xausing you concern a vet visit is best to have it checked out. Older females sometimes do have hormonal issues that cause them to lose fur but this would not normally be on just one side.
Warch which way she runs and if that side is rubbing the wheel wall
Please do't pay any attention to poll results because you really cannot diagnose from a photo on this matter.

Sounds more like rubbing to me. What wheel does she have? I haven't heard of urine burns but I'd have thought they would be in different areas. The area she has does look like regular rubbing.

Rubbing is a common problem with long haired hamsters

Sorry Hammy 2! Wasn't dismissing your suggestion. I just got the impression her hammy didn't have cage cleaning issues from other posts. Does she just run in one direction in her wheel?

She gets her cage cleaned out about every 2 weeks.

Most of the time, yes. Haven't really noticed but I know it is probably just recent because I handled her about 2-3 days before I got sick and didn't notice any bald spots unless it was really small then.

I don't know if she is long-haired, hammy 2, but I think she probably is.

Any itching and scratching? That's a bit near her scent gland so could be from excess licking to clean the gland or extra scent marking while awake at night too if it isn't found to be wheel rubbing.

ETA: that paper insert in your wheel shouldn't remain on there as it is just for display purposes while on the sales shelf. That would be a very likely culprit for rubbing off her fur as the edges of the thin cardboard are VERY sharp as the paper cut on my finger while removing it could attest.
