Goodness no if it's a good cage just disinfect it. I just thought if it was a starter cage that might have needed upgrading anyway it might have been best - or to have got a refund. I think if you were thinking of putting another hamster in the same cage, even after disinfecting I would give it a bit of time though - I don't know how long sorry - someone more experienced in these things might know. It does say 7 days in that article but it can take a while for a scent to go whether from another hamster or from disinfectant or bleach I guess.

What cage do you have out of interest? It sounds interesting!
