Default Red patch of skin

Sometime last week, William was on the edge of his platform, near the cage bars, when my cat Lucky pouched at him and stuck his claws through the bars. William shot off to his bed, and I thought he was OK at first, but last night I noticed there was a wet patch on him, and it looks very red. I'm not sure if there's a cut there or not, he's too wriggly yet to have a good look. I couldn't feel a scab of anything.

After he'd had a wash, the wet patch had gone, and he seems completely fine in himself. I'm just a little worried. I'm going to have another look tonight to see if there's a cut, if there is, what should I do? Do I wash it in anything, or take him to the vets? The only appointment would be Wednesday morning.

Needless to say, William will be moving to a higher place tonight, out of kitty reach. Poor little guy

Are you sure the wet patch is not over his scent glands? I suspect that as you have just got a new lady hamster that William is putting on a bit of aftershave ie producing extra scent to endear the young lady to him! This is normal when the boys smell a lady and sometimes they look soaking!
If it is not there and you think he may have been clipped by a kitty nail he may have an abcess developing under the skin. Watch him for any swelling or change in behavior and see a vet if you suspect this.

I was actually thinking that after I posted. It is around the area of his glands, and as they are all in the kitchen running in the balls during playtime, he's bound to smell her, especially when they bash into each other! I have noticed a change in Jasper too, he wakes up earlier and seems more eager to be out!

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on William.
