Exclamation Help! >.<

Hi!
I know I haven't posted in a while, busy due to exams,
But I got one of my hamsters Lilo out, and I noticed that she has blood coming out from near her tail, and seeing as that's something I haven't had happen to one of my hamsters, should I be worried?
Can I please have some advice on what to do??

Cheers,
Katy

Can you tell if it's from a cut or one of the vents? From the vents could mean a UTI or pyometra. Any other symptoms? Bloating, hunched, dehydrated, blood in urine?

For the latter two you'll likely need a vet for some antibiotics, and possibly a spay if it's pyo.

I think anytime there is blood like that a vet should be seen. Yes you should be worried sorry. Do you have a vet who treats small furries?

Hi Katy. Female hamsters who have any blood around their ventral area should be seen by a vet as it could be a womb infection or it may be a bladder infection. Either way, a good vet will (or should) be able to say what`s going on and perhaps prescribe antibiotics for you to administer either orally or on a small piece of mashed food. Female Syrian hamsters can be more prone to pyometra, so consider this also if your seeing the vet.

It`s always better to get these things checked because blood isn`t normal unless it`s coming from an obvious cut. Hope all is well. x
