I understand.where racinghamster is coming from about ditching the ball but I find mine essential for my ham when she is in wild exploring mode. She won't always settle in her playpen even tho its quite big (3 feet by 7) . Sometimes she just has to bomb around. All hams are different. I'd say keep it but use it with care, not for too long and in a protected area.

I agree herbie, thats is a better way of putting it IF the hamster actually enjoys the ball. They can`t talk remember! x

Good ideas guys! Once she wants to climb out there Is no stopping her! As long as there is equal amounts of outside and in ball playtime I think it doesn't matter unless the hamster obviously doesn't enjoy the ball.
