Default Hamster Pregnancy Problem

I need help as my Dwarf hamster had given birth yesterday however her placenta seems to be stuck and she cannot remove it. Does anybody have any advice on how we can help her? She has lots of discomfort and tries to remove it several times every minute or so. She is still able to feed her babies and herself does anybody have any advice?

They usually sort themselves out but if it's been a day and she's still having trouble then the best thing you can do for her is take her to the vets.
Do you know one that is especially good with small animals? They sometimes struggle with hamsters esp dwarfs maybe you can ring round and check in advance.
Good luck, let us know what happens.

This is more likely to be a pup that is stuck than a placenta. You need to get her to a vet immediatly or else any other pups inside will die and she will become unwell herself. You can try and ease this pup out yourself but as it could also be a prolapsed uterus she really does need vet care.
It is wise to already have the hamster vet registered so that you can call them out immediatly for such emergencies.
I hope you can get her seen as she is obviouly in some pain with this birthing problem. Do you have any other hamsters with young litters? You may need to foster the newborns to another mother. I have only seen this happen once with a syrian and even when the stuck pup was removed the mother unfortunatly did not make it. Half of the litter fostered on did survive though. Take her and the whole cage of pups to the vets. Cover it up and put a warm water bottle near the babies to try and keep them warm while mum is attended to. With such young babies it is virually impossible for them to survive without their mum.
Good luck
