Hi everyone!
I was hoping someone could help.
I just checked on Lentil to get her out of her cage for a run around, and it seems she's got a graze on her tail.
I let her have a run around to check if she was okay - she seems completely fine and her normal cheeky self
I checked the cage, and her platform had teeny splatters of blood on it. I can't work out how she's cut her tail, but I'm assuming the blood spatters are from it. I've removed her platform (it was a magazine file Ikea thing), because it had spilt sand on it and I'm wondering if she's grazed it on that.
I've tried to clean the cut with some lukewarm salt water and a cotton bud - she doesn't seem to mind me touching it with the cotton bud but she was so wiggly that I don't know how well I cleaned it (she seemed to be more interested in trying to eat the cotton bud which means she's now got a bit of a wet backside from the salt water!).
Is there anything else I should do? I'm really worried, only because I read about another owner who saw splattered blood and it ended up with her hammy passing away from a mouth infection.
I've probably just wound myself up though.
Anyone else's suggestions would be great!!
ps sorry for the hideously large pictures, I'm new at this haha. (poor Lentil, having her bum shown to the internet)
EDIT: had a good look over it, it's not deep - it appears she's just 'skinned' it. Eek! Anyway, glad it wasn't anything major. Is there anything else anyone thinks I should do?
