Re: Lymphoma? Should we isolate?
Thank you all, I didn't doubt having him pts once I saw the lumps were growing so quickly (although, reading through, I didn't say so) but it helps a lot to be reassured especially because it isn't an easy decision.
I will confirm with the vet, DrKMcK, that's a good idea. I'd like to know for sure. I'm confused about lymphoma in hams - I've looked it up but none the wiser. Apparently lymphoma in hamsters can sometimes be caused by a virus (so not contagious itself but there could be infection involved) but I don't think there is suspicion of that here. I'll make sure everything is thoroughly cleaned and in future I'll isolate sick hams to be sure. I'll also get hold of the Virkon, it'll be useful to have available for future use as well.
Patrick is still bright as a button but I think he's feeling Leon's absence now, as are we, hugely. Thanks again all, you've been helpful and kind.
