Im a bit worried about my hammie Whitey and i dont if im just being daft or not, but ive just noticed today that when he storing his food he is only using one side to store, is this normal? or am i right and something could be wrong?my other hammies all use both sides so thought it was out of the ordinary and wanted to ask on here before i called up the vet.

Re: only using one pouch :S
I don't think it is uncommon for them to favour one pouch. Our dwarfies certainly frequently only fill one side. If he had a pouch abcess or a tooth problem you would likely see swelling and your hammy would seem unwell. Syrians tend to just put the food in to take it to their store but dwarfies aften seem to keep seeds in there all the time. I think they forget about them. If he seems well in all departments I don't think there is any cause for concern but if he has other symptoms like drooling, swelling, lethargy or not eating well and weight loss then a vet visit is in order.
