Sore legs and fur loss

My dwarf hamster is around 18months old (and still going strong). Recently I have noticed she is ageing a bit, but is still eating well and lively.
She has a little bit of fur lose under her front legs and the skin looks red and sore. Does anyone have any suggestions for anything I could put on this to soothe it for her? She washes a lot and it isn't helping. She has always had the same bedding so it's not that. I have also treated her for mites incase.
I am putting the condition down to old age, just hoping there is something to help reduce the redness and soothe it for her?

Hi Lucy, it could be mites that are under her skin, you say it's red and sore - could be she's being irritated by these horrible bugs. That's how my hammy was and he had to go to the vet for 3 injections over 3 weeks.

I think it would probably be best to check with a vet before applying anything to her skin just to be on the safe side & they could also advice you if there is an underlying cause other than old age too.
Might be worth a check over the cage just in case something has a rough edge that could have caused the problem.
