Yes it was like cotton wool! I feel bad for letting him have it but now he is mad at me for taking it away haha.. Unfortunately the vet hospital is not responding to my calls (I've been trying for hours) but I left a message so they can get back to me when they hear it... Otherwise I'm just going to have to feed him more moist food and keep him away from that bedding and see if it passes. If he's ot better tomorrow I'll take him to an emergency vet

Definitely get rid of every scrap of that cotton you can find, if you give him plenty of shredded toilet tissue he'll soon forgive you!
I'd still get the vets advice meanwhile give him some cucumber & other veg, you could also give him a few flax seeds if you have them.

fluffy bedding is so terribly dangerous, it's completely criminal that pet shops are still allowed to sell it, and even recommend it to owners.

It's good that he was able to pass at least some of it. Hopefully he got most or all of it out. Besides some watery food, there isn't much else you can do without a vet. They'll be able to give him a low dose of laxative to help him out if needed.

If it is a neurological issue, many hams (usually dwarves) live long happy lives in spite of the problem. The internet is full of people posting their 'fainting' hams, or they're back flipping hams, thinking its a game for the hamster, not knowing its a condition. It's not necessarily a death sentence by any means though, its just something they live with, if they're even aware anything is wrong.

It's actual harder watching a seizure than having one since the person having the seizure is not conscious at that moment....Its more the shock of coming back round than the siezures themselves.

Thank you for all your replies! For some reason the so called "emergency" vet has not been contactable and has not called me back after I called about 15 times and left a message.... But, good news, he is feeling a lot better! He is completely back to his usual self and I'm soooo glad! Looks like it was the bedding after all.

That's so good to hear! I'm so glad he's okay now! Pitch that fluffy bedding straight in the trash
