Re: Possibly being paranoid?
Hi Shana! I've noticed that since the clocks went back an hour, my 2 Syrians are in their bed a bit more than usual, I bought mine some different treats and changed their toys in their cages.

Re: Possibly being paranoid?
Hi Kelly, I think this staying in bed more is to do with the clocks going back and it's being darker in the mornings and evenings my 2 have changed, staying longer on their beds. a bit like when people feel S.A.D, some pets can too.

I know he does come out at night because any treats I've put around his cage have gone. I just miss seeing his little face during the evening. Even when I wake him up and get him out, once he's back in his cage then he's back to bed. I've bought some stuff to hopefully convince him out for longer and keep him warmer. Hate to think what it'll be like when proper winter kicks in!
Thanks for your reassurance though.

Re: Possibly being paranoid?
Buttercup has developed diarrorea, her bottom is covered in faeces and her stomach is swollen. Turns out I wasn't being paranoid and it was not hibernation or the cold.
We're going to the vets in 15 minutes and I don't expect her to make the trip back, she has gone downhill very fast the last 2 days. She was not like this on Sunday.

Re: Possibly being paranoid?
OMG. So sorry to hear this news. Please keep us posted as to what happens. And keep in mind that hams can rally almost as well as they decline rapidly. I like to think of them as pretty sturdy, all things considered....it may be a stomach bug that has her feeling wretched, but if caught in time, will be history soon? Keep us posted.

Re: Possibly being paranoid?
Oh no! Poor girl. Like Skeever said, a recovery from this sort of thing isn't impossible. Of course I'm hoping for the best, but please let us know what happens either way.

Re: Possibly being paranoid?
Buttercup was euthanised. The vet said her stomach bloat felt like a huge tumor and although she didn't seem to be in pain it was obviously draining her and making her uncomfortable and if she was having diarrorea we would only prolong the inevitable attempting to treat her.
We had a great 3 months together, my room looks really empty without her.
