I'd take the hay out. Hay can contain mould spores that can irritate the lungs and also can have mites in it. Use plain white loo roll ripped up for her nest
As I said it can take a while with chest infections. Some hammies are also quite vocal and can click and whirr at you a bit. Robos also tend to 'vibrate' when they are nervous so is it that you hear? We call it 'buzzing' as it feels like a buzzy bee in your hand!
Try and not worry. What will be will be and she does not sound to be in any pain. Lets see how she does without the hay and hope she gets well soon. You are doing your very best for her remember.

Ok I just woke up and looked at her, she seems to be making noises like we do when we have a blocked nose. She was getting better but now she's making the noises almost constantly. I've removed her sand bath but should I remove her wheel as well because she is using it and I don't know if she is exerting herself. Also could it be her wood shavings irritating her, even though she's been on them since she was with me. She is eating OK and I assume she is drinking but I just hope she hangs on because next week I'm off school and I can look after her constantly then. Thank you for the support and advice I wouldn't know what to do with out you.

Hello, I am sorry your hammy is having problems. I am not one of the experts but I would suggest leaving things as they are now, to avoid the stress of further changes in the cage. She is living her life and enjoying her wheel and if she was feeling too ill I think she might not use it. Maybe you could put/hide the odd little treat, like a small square of cheese, for her to find - just on top of the substrate in different parts of the cage, which may distract her away from the wheel. But mainly just keep her life interesting and comfortable. Fingers crossed she improves with the medication. If she has always had the same bedding I wouldn't worry about it too much. I am not sure if you are in the Uk but shavings in the Uk are kiln dried and safe to use. I use the local pet shop ones which are 'comfypet' shavings and I don't find them dusty at all - they are dust extracted and kiln dried. Try not to worry too much. How old is your hammy by the way?

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that. She's approximately 11 months old and she came from pets at home.

I don't know but to me she sounds like she's getting worse. She's making a squeaky, clicking noise almost constantly now and I don't know if she's getting much of her medicated water. Please help me. I don't want her suffering, I want her to get better not worse.

UPDATE: I'm not 100% sure but it sound like Sherbet is getting slightly better, although she is squeaking quite a bit. Do robos talk to themselves or sleep squeak because that's what it sounds like. I can't hear the clicking noise at the moment but I will keep you posted. I also think that I will change her bedding to tumble fresh just to be safe but when do you think I should change her bedding.

I am sorry to read this. My thoughts are with you. Sometimes it is their time and no matter what we do and how much we hope with all our heart, we can't change fate.
Rest in peace, little Sherbert x

Thank you for all of your lovely support. I'm going to try and make a memorial in the memorial section but I don't know if I'll keep it together long enough.
