Hi, cookie has been very ill lately. A few days ago i found her hunched up in the corner of her cage closed eye but still breathing. Her fur is very greasy and she had a sticky eye. Last night i noticed she has red/pinky bumps around the anus. I don't know if its cancer or cushings disease? I have noticed she has got bigger lately. I am very worried i could not sleep all night. I have to go to work today but i am taking her to a vet tonight asap. Also i found she had a brown thing coming out her anus but l3 hours later it was still there? Can hamsters get constipation? Does anybody have any idea what's wrong with cookie?I am taking her to the vet but i just wandering if anyone had any ideas? Please help?
Hamsters can get bowel blockages, yes. Has she been pottying normally? It's sounds like she's got a lot of different symptoms, definitely take her to the vet as soon as you can. Cancer usually manifests in hamsters as one large lump, rather than multiple small ones to my knowledge, but I'm not a vet, nor do I have cookie in front of me to look at how old is Cookie, do you know?
Hamsters definitely do get constipated. What do you mean by she got bigger? Generally or is her abdomen hard or swollen? That could be a sign of a blockage & if she has been constipated for some time, which can happen without it being really obvious that could lead to general ill health & other symptoms.
All you can do is keep her comfortable till you get to the vet, keep her quiet & try to be sure she doesn't dehydrate.
