Re: Dwarf hybrid Bloody Aspen
I made sure nothing was dangerous n her cage. Did all the research before we got her. There have been no changes in her diet either. Could it be toilet paper? I shredded some up for her to nest with and everywhere said it was fine. I cant find it in the cage could she have ate it and gotten hurt?
Currently she is burrowing patches in her cages and sleeping in them instead of her home.

Re: Dwarf hybrid Bloody Aspen
I've never heard of toilet paper causing any kind of bowel problems, it should be digestible.
I'm so sorry, I have no idea what might be happening.

Re: Dwarf hybrid Bloody Aspen
Hello Mikey_Imagine. I'm not sure what's going on with your ham, but it is not toiket paper, nor is she giving birth. All you can do is sit with her like you said and get her to a vet asap tomorrow. Is there an animals Hospital in your area. They usually have an emergency area available. I hope your hammy makes it.

Re: Dwarf hybrid Bloody Aspen
It's hard to be sure from your description but it sounds very much like what happened to my hybrid Ziggy, first a few spots of blood then something protruding which turned out to be a prolapsed bowel.
If it is this they can get dehydrated very quickly so try to make sure she's drinking, if not offer her the bottle or a syringe with water, cucumber or lettuce.
She really needs to get to a vet asap, they may be able to repair it although I'm afraid the prognosis isn't too good.
Just keep her quiet & comfortable until you can get her to a vet.
I hope it turns out to be something they can help. Good luck.
