Advice needed - very unwell Syrian
My gorgeous George is very very unwell he was fine last night but when I went into the pet room tonight he was out in his cage, weak, really wobbly on his legs, can barely walk and refusing to eat he had some water out of a syringe
What can I do to make him more comfortable? We live in a little village and don't have any baby food to hand. We have a snugglesafe and basic rabbit first aid kit. Our vet is 35 min away and he gets really stressed by car journeys so I don't know what's best to do...
I bought him just over a year ago and the pet shop told me he was about 3 months old, this seems quite young unless they were wrong... There are a billion things I might have done wrong whirling through my head, but nothing obvious

Er... I think all you can really do is put the snugglesafe by or under one side of the cage (not the whole cage - he needs to be able to get away if he wants to) and leave him be. He might just not have long left I'm afraid

Re: Advice needed - very unwell Syrian
Hello Tilia. He is young enough that a vet may be able to find out what's wrong and treat him. I understand that it's a bit of a trip and it can be stressful, but a visit may save his life. He sounds ill. I don't know what a snuggle safe is nor what good your medkit will do if you don't know what the problem is. I truely think the vet is your best option.

Re: Advice needed - very unwell Syrian
He's not moving much at all - have spoken to the emergency vets who said try warming him up first, and it's my decision to take him to them or not as they may be limited in what they can do (cost is not a consideration here, just what's best/least stressful for George). We've put the snugglesafe in near him as well as extra bedding. (I only mentioned the first aid kit in case something in it was useful e.g. recovery food)

Re: Advice needed - very unwell Syrian
A heat pad in a fleece cover, it emits low level heat for several hours. I think it's meant for larger animals (i have mine for my bunnies)
2am here now, have been sitting up with him... Thanks for your replies
