Kody decided to take a relaxing oaty bath...
I spent the best part of 20mins brushing dry porridge out of his skirt while he "played" in my lap. The poor little guy is so bored he was deluded into thinking a simple outing onto my hands and lap were like a day at the beach! Bless him.

The porridgey butted one is back in his nest box, sulking. He has barricaded himself in with his paper cake case of porridge... and he shows no signs of wanting to come back out anytime soon... well.. I say too bad Kody bear. you're due meds in 30mins.

Maybe yours is like ours here Hekomi. I have watched the vet tech "make it" they mix a small amount of the actual meds with a huge amount of strawberry flavored syrup so we have to make sure we really shake it up or all they get is syrup

Strawberry Syrup!? lucky lucky hams!

Kody definitely doesnt like the taste. Although today he accepted the inevitable sooner than he usually does and I got his meds down in a record 3 pokes to his mouth!!
He batted once, turned his head away, then just opened his mouth and took it Bless, I guess he's getting the idea.

He's a sulky fluff afterwards though, but not too sulky to curl up in my lap in the middle of the day for a snooze xD I guess he doesn't work well when he's been woken in the middle of his sleep. Shame he didn't stay long, he woke and started roaming - almost looking like he needed to go potty so, I took him back to his bin and left him be.

I'm yet to check on his sore bits since he's started his medication, I've been trying hard not to, because I know I will worry if I don't see an improvement, but I also figure it's really too soon to tell...

I'm keeping my fingers crossed my Kody bear gets well

I hope it's not strawberry, my SO is allergic to it... eep.

Glad Kody is getting better with his meds. I hope he gets better soon.

After being an utter spazz the last day. Kody has calmed down. Still looks lost without his wheel mind you.
He's taking his meds well now and after a poke inspection of his man-hamness, I am pleased to report 0-little ooziness! Woohoo!
I think there is improvement.

Go Kody!
In the meantime all this medicating every 12hrs is making is so Kody and I get cuddle time guaranteed twice daily and is slowly making me think more about waking hams for cuddles since Kody is managing with it!

Weirdly enough he gets a burst of energy after his meds. But in the middle of the day he seems to ignore it and often just nuzzles around in my lap til he finds a comfy spot and he lays down to snooze. Funny little guy!

5 days later and there's no improvement for Kody

I took him back to the vet today. There was no sense in questioning on it.
The vet said the best way to go now would be anaesthetic. To investigate.

He thinks Kody requires an op as not everything looks ok down there.
So Kody is booked in for tomorrow at 9am.

Also, the vet offered to castrate Kody at the same time since he's under anaesthetic anyway and he's going to have to shave it to operate either way....
I'm not at all sure what to do? I know he needs the op to fix whatever is going on. There's no question of that. But what about this castration idea?
Good? or bad?

'Would it prove healthier in the long run?' would be my main concern/reason for castration. Get as much info as possible, online and from the doctor. Might be a good thing, if he's prone to illness there....could be a worse post op scenario? Maybe some here have had more experience with the whole idea of castrating...some people do it for a tamer male mouse?

I agree with Skeever. Find out pros and cons first. I hope he feels better. x
