Re: Java hurt her toe
Java's toe is healed up, vet gave it the all clear.
However, she's been biting her tail (boredom, obsessive grooming blah) so the vet has recommended we keep her on the baytril until it's done, and metacam for a few days. We've also added in a topical flamazine cream (it's pretty superficial, I could probably heal it myself, but I figure it might come in handy in the future anyways).
So $4-500 later, Java's still travelling back and forth to my mum's with me. Internship is done on the 29th, so we're home permanently then. She's getting good with the drives, and just sleeps through it.

Re: Java hurt her toe
Expensive little fluff, isn't she? I am really glad her toe is all better. She's become a traveller!

Re: Java hurt her toe
Yes, she is. My SO was joking on the ride home that between the two of us, with 100k in education, and a $500 hamster, nothing can stop us, haha.
Likely I could have done without the cream and healed it myself, but I figure it's such a huge thing of cream, so we can use it with the other hams, should they hurt themselves.

I am so so glad the vet gave you the all clear! That's fantastic news
Sorry if you tried to PM me, my inbox was full and I didn't notice... bleh.
Is she back in her regular tank now? I bet she's a happy ham if she is! I know Kody was glad to get his stuff back

Re: Java hurt her toe
Nope, still in the bin as she has to still travel back and forth for tail meds now. Poor thing.

Re: Java hurt her toe
Glad her toe is better! Have you been able to give her a wheel now?

Re: Java hurt her toe
Vet said she would be fine in her tank, but I didn't want to taunt her with her home and wheel. We chose to keep her in the bin and let her run in our ball that is on a stand (it allows her to stop and groom and she very happily climbed in).
It at least have her some exercise, but since I need to keep doing to oral meds twice a day and tail cream until it is healed, she's gotta stay in the bin. If we had binned the other bin all the way (SO got tired and quit after one panel was cut) we could have put the 8" wodent wheel we have in it. No dice though so I'm just hoping the tail is clear by the weekend so she's back to her regular routine.

Re: Java hurt her toe
The old nail came off, and her toe is very slightly pink, and is growing a new nail, from what I can tell. She's happy to have the ball (and is running beside me) and her tail is no worse, and looks less angry.
