Default Re: Lump on tummy. Not sure what it is

Hi Hammyfan. Any suspicious lump that appears on a hamster should really be checked by a vet early on as medication can sometimes be given if it turns out to be an abscess or a cyst or if female, could be mastitis, which really needs attention. It depends what the lump is and whether it requires removing or just antibiotics. Some owners prefer to wait and see if the lump gets any bigger over a week and if it does, then I would certainly worry. Having said all the above, lumps that grow are usually tumours and if that`s the case, there isn`t a great deal that can be done unless removed early. x
