I think Molly has a tumour
Molly is two next month and the other day i noticed she was running around with what i thought was a full cheek pouch, i felt it and it was uneven so i assumed seeds. Her cheek is still large and on feeling again it's smooth and I think it's a tumour, seems too hard to be an absess. Anyway we're off to the vets in the next day or so to get her looked at. She lost some fur around her tummy and i put that down to old age but maybe it's tumour related.
My poor sweetie

Re: I think Molly has a tumour
Aww poor Molly. Lets hope that is maybe a cyst which can be drained or an abcess which might be put right with some antibiotics. It could also be an impacted pouch with food jammed in there and the vet could flush this out for her. If it is a tumour and it is not bothering her then she may be quite happy to go on with it for a good while yet and be quite comfortable and content so I hope she graces your lives for a long time still. Our dwarfie had an op to remove a lump on his tummy three weeks ago and he is doing great now. Keep us posted how she gets on Liz.

Re: I think Molly has a tumour
I'm sorry to hear about your little one. I have just had to have a (presumed) tumour removed from an 8 month old Syrian and know how you feel, its very upsetting to find a lump.
I hope all goes well at the vet

Re: I think Molly has a tumour
Thanks guys. Molly was still happily running around her cage and the sofa with me last night so is fine in herself. If it is a tumour I doubt i will put her through surgery being an older lady. I'd had a dwarf who's had a lump removed before and it did give him another 3 months of life.
Will report back soon!!

I'm sorry to hear Molly might have a tumour but at least she seems to be feeling alright. Hope all goes OK at the vets.

Re: I think Molly has a tumour
I took Molly to the vets today, I'm wondering if she is older than two bless her, I've had her 18 months and when I rescued her the person told me she was 6 months roughly.
The vet first thought that the lump was a tumour until I told her how fast it developed. They tried to get a needle in to see if they could draw some fluid off but Molly got too upset. So the vet gave me the choice to monitor her quality of life or to have her looked at whilst she was asleep. i decided I didn't want to put her through an anaesthetic so have bought her home with some antibiotics to try.
I think I made the right decision my poor Molly was so distressed at being poked she's now sleeping.

Re: I think Molly has a tumour
I think you made the right choice too Liz. No point in upsetting her and stressing her out. There is no point finding out if it is a tumour really unless you want the op and if it is an abcess the antibiotics will hopefully sort things out. A decision made from love is always the right one so never doubt what you have done. I hope she continues to enjoy a good quality of life and the meds help her.

Re: I think Molly has a tumour
Thanks Hana and Souffle, it really helps to know you agree with my decision. It is so important to make the right decision for older animals.
I will check on her again later for her meds. She nearly jumped off the vets table she was so lovely, she's a fighter
