Dales getting old

My campbells Dale is starting to look frail, hes over 2 years old now and has lost weight, sleeps more, and is all hunched over when he walks, he looks just like Chip did before she died the other month. I keep checking his eyes incase he has diabetes like chip.
Im worried that maybe he is losing weight because of teeth problems?? Or it is just because of old age.
How do you check the teeth etc. i tried to get him to eat in my presence last night but he just filled his cheeks instead. Also he doesnt eat the sunflower seeds like he used to, he has no interest in them anymore.

He is a good age now pinkemily so it may just be old age creeping up on him. Even if it is diabetes there is not much you can do except try and watch his diet. You could try giving him some hammy porridge or babyfood with some wheatgerm in it and maybe some egg and chicken to try and perk him up but they do tend to lose weight as they age. It is not easy to check teeth with scruffing them which might be stressful. The are likely oK though if he is still pouching and weeing and pooping normally. I hope he perks up a bit and stays around for a good while yet. Have you tested his urine? If you are worried it might be an infection you should take him for a vet check though.

I had a good play with him last night and he came out in his ball for a bit. Hes still lively enough, he likes climbing up and down the bars, i think im going start giving him some baby food to give him more more energy etc. its not nice seeing him the way Chip was, and i keep comparing him to Ted the big fat rug which doesnt help haha.
