Could it be something you fed him? Has there been any new food introduced into his diet? Or anything that may have him stressed out? I don't know a lot about wet tail but my Lynka seems to poo ALOT when stressed out.

Offer treats, make sure his habitat is in a nice quiet and warm area. Just monitor him for a few days without being invasive and see if anything changes.

Sorry to hear about Nibbles...
Has the area he has been in quite damp lately or cold? When you say he is pooing more, does it look normal or is it different? If it was diarrhea then it may be wet tail.
vhisarobot gave you some great advice already...definitely keep him warm and monitor him, make sure he can get a drink but not too often! If he has wet tail he may need antibiotics from the wet, but if he has wet tail he will smell a bit and it will be very noticeable.

Is he hunched over at all when walking? Like he looks in pain?
You could try putting a hot water bottle next to his cage if you have one to warm the area he is in up a bit.
