Default Puffles vet trip

took puffle to the vets thismorning for his fur loss, and honestly the vets stumped x He asked if it was something rubbing, i said no, he asked he was scratching, i said no.
He said it could be ring worm or something, so went to take a skin scraping with a scalple :S he obviously saw how worried he was because hasmsters dont exactly have tough skin x he realised though before i said anything and just cut some fur off to do a test
But then he asked if i had other hamsters and i told him i had 3, he looked a bit doubtful that it was ring worm even though he didnt say it, becuase i know its contageous. though the girls might not have it, as there cages are next to eachothers and his is on the floor x

Either way, at least im starting to get this sorted, puffle was a star as always and the vet kept saying about how he was such a gentle calm and tolerant hammy so he got a lot of treats today! x

Hmm... Surely you would know if it was ringworm? it's pretty noticeable. :/ Still, if he's taken a sample at least you will find out if there is anything wrong.

I really hope there isn't! Fingers crossed it's just a funny Longhaired thing. My old boy Basil went a bit sparse as he got older. xx

Hope the sample gives you a better idea of what`s causing Puffle`s hair loss Gazmo. Hopefully it`s something treatable or just hormonal/ageing. x

Hope it isn't ringworm and usually initial test on ringworm is looking under some sort of ultra light thingy ? As I remember years ago when I was worried about my dog and vet did that. Eventually I found that my dog was digging under fence to get neighbours garden and was rubbing exact same spot on her nose every time she dug. Funny
Hope your little baby will get better soon
Xx

Sometimes these things just need managed Gazmo if they are related to age or underlying internal issues. Once the results come back from the hair sample you will have a better idea of how to proceed. x

Have you got a picture of his fur loss by any chance?
I have a LH male that had a wonderful skirt, he is nearly 3 years old now! He loses fur and looks quite scruffy at times, there have been times here he has lost big parts of his skirt and now he just has a few random tufts that disappear and return later.
