Default Is he ok?

Little Basil, as I have named him, is now all alone in his cage after being separated from Mum and sister.......he tried to mount sister!!!!

I am a bit worried about him tho as he doesnt seem to want to go into bedding but prefers to be in the wheel. Its not so snug there for him and I am frightened he is going to get too cold. He goes to sleep there. Is he gonna be ok like this?

We ofen find this happens when babies go it alone. They seem to take a while to work out where the bed is! Don't worry as long as the room is reasonably warm he will be fine. You could try putting a little of mums bedding in his bedding so he gets the scent and also a little food under the bedding too. We had one who slept under the wheel for two weeks before moving into the potty then finally the nest box!!!

the boys from molly's litter had problems too, i had to shread the bedding up for them and put it all in the bed before they knew what to do, it just takes practise with little ones

back when my scooby was little he had the same cage you have there with the outside wheel he slept in it constantly. .. and pooped and peed in it it had drainage I guess. I ended up moving him to a tank and got him a wheel on a stand he then started sleeping in the bed. Every hamster I put in that cage wanted to sleep in the wheel

Does he have a little house to sleep in at all, they do like the security of an enclosed space.

I would think that so long as the ham is healthy, if he was to cold he would go make himself a nest I have seen both my gerbils and my hamster sleep outside their nests on days it was a little to hot, before we bought our air conditioner. So I think they have a pretty good idea of what they are doing
