Default I think Alvins hurt his teeth!!!

He was chewing the bars on his gabber and lost his footing off his shelf but he was still clinging on with his teeth and not his paws! I dunno if it as the scrapping of his teeth on the bars but it sounded like a loud squeek!!!! Ive had a look at his teeth (took me ages) and they dont look broken but hes not eaten his treat I put in there for him, a little bit of it maybe but he normally demolishes the whole lot!!! What shall I do?

Poor littlething x

If the teeth look even I think he has just got a fright and jarred his teeth or possibly bitten his tongue so is feeling a bit sorry for himself. They are usually fine after a few hours but you may want to offer him some soft food for a few days such as scrambled egg, baby food or porridge just to make sure he eats it.

His bottom teeth are very long. What is normal? And his teeth are discoloured, is that normal? x

Ive given Alvin a bit of apple and brocoli today. He has nibbled at it a bit but not eaten much. And some of the sunfloewer seeds that comes in his food were put in his cage and hes moved them to the corner (not his usual stash) and hasnt touched them. Also where he bites the bars I put card there. Normally in the morning the card is half chewed off but it has not been touched!!! xxxxxxxxxx

Maybe he has learnt his lesson alvinsfamily. His mouth may be a bit sore yet so keep an eye on him. Is he coming out and having out time as usual? He may have cracked a tooth but it is not so likely. I would monitor him and keep up the soft food for now. You could shell some sunflower seeds and offer them to him.

Yeah he still comes out at his usual tim, about half 9 and has a wander about. We got him out and let him have a run about in hisball which he seemed to enjoy. I weighed him so I can keep an eye on the weight and if its gone down Ill get him to the vets. could they correct his teeth if they have been broken? x

As the teeth grow constantly a vet could simply trim off a broken tooth even with the its partner. If they look even it is not likely one is broken though. Hope he is perking up again as he seems to be a bit better now.
