Default Help - new baby's eye is not opening - Help

Hi guys

Can anyone help - the baby we got on saturday seems to have a poorly eye. It is kind of stuck together. This is what it looks like -

We aren't sure what to do or how long it's been like it - because she has been so scared we have just sat speaking to her but not really had a look at her but pretty sure it'd happened today.
(We decided to try and hold her tonight as she was walking about quite confidently and that's when we noticed.)

If it was Noodles, I'd try to wipe it and we'd go to the vet straight away but baby is so nervy still(and we can't pick her up), I wondered if you have any advice before we take her?

Does it seem sticky? if so try some boiled, cooled water on a cotton bud and see if it unsticks. Don't try too hard as you could damage the eye. Have you seen it with both eyes open? are you sure it has an eye? sorry to ask but sometimes they only have one or in the case of Anophthalmic,no eyes. I would take hammy to the vet if you are unsure of hurting the pup.

Just back from the vets! I decided to go before you replied Batkat as I was worried they would be closing. Thank you for the advice though

It was just sleep which the vet cleared off but I'm glad we took her to be on the safe side, as I wouldn't have felt confident doing it myself BUT when we went to the vet, she couldn't catch her so I picked her up and held her while the vet looked at her and she was an absolute angel!!!

Glad to hear she has managed to get sorted out. I expect the change of surroundings meant she has been exposed to things she is not used to so the eye has gotten a bit irritated. They can get little eye infections and need drops or cream but we sometimes get sticky eyes which can be cleared by gently wipeing with a cotton ball dipped in cooled boiled water. Baby looks very sweet. Is she a dark grey?

She is a "LH silver grey (sepia) tort" according to her pedigree She is a real sweetie and was so good at the vets.

I can't see any tort or sepia tbh but now her eye is sorted and she is more settled I will do an introduction and you can have a proper look!

I don't like to mess about with eyes which is why I panicked a bit - because I thought if she did need treatment it would be better asap. Now I am a bit more confident with her, I would be able to wipe it myself.

The vet listened to her heart and said she looks very well and said she was really cute - although I am pretty sure she wasn't a specialist because she wouldn't believe she was 2 months old to start with and asked if I meant 2 YEARS (I think she thought she was a dwarf cause she is grey )
