Poppy firsts trip to the vet
Oh dear, as Poppy is not using her potty area I'm very concerned and after much consideration decided to get her checked out. I'm so nervous as I am going to have to disturb her sleep and what stress is it gonna cause her.

Re: Poppy firsts trip to the vet
I'm traumatised, after what Poppy has been through. The vet obviously had to check her over and I could see Poppy stressing, it broke my heart. The vet said her tummy was a little swollen and managed to make her urinate, he did a test which showed signs of blood and protein. He thinks she has a water infection and at the moment prescribed antibiotics twice a day, Poppy is gonna love that one and I'm not going to give her first dose until tonight, let her calm down a bit. She has now gone back to bed.

Re: Poppy firsts trip to the vet
Poor Poppy The bladder can get swollen with the infection and it makes them have to strain to urinate. Keep a very close eye for signs of any discharge from elsewhere in case it is from her womb and have her seen quickly again if it is. I hope the meds take effect soon but try and keep her drinking and well hydrated so flush through the bladder. Some dilute cranberry juice may help.

Re: Poppy firsts trip to the vet
Hi, thank you for your kind comments, When I we returned home I held her, hopefully to reassure her, I gave her a favourite treat which she took willingly and popped her back in her home. I then went out again and bought her some blueberries, sorry no cranberries available, but I know she loves Blueberries. She is now tucked up in bed curled up and fast asleep.
I have to take her back to the vets next week, which I'm not looking forward to.

Re: Poppy firsts trip to the vet
Thank you once again for your kind words, Poppy is currently fast asleep, well away in the land of nod, hopefully sleeping off her ideal.
