Default Chips eyes?

Chip my little Cambells has just been out for a cuddle and ive noticed her pupils are white???
Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?? My poor baby seems to be getting so many health problems She has her huge lump and has developed a scab behind her left ear, i have no idea where its came from but it wont go! and now her white eyes!! Shes my best friend and shes getting so ill and i dont know how to help her She will be 2 years old in about 2/3 months.

Her brother is fine health wise though, hes just had his eyes checked and hes fine.

I think shes going to have to join Ted to the vets on Tuesday, his belly isnt getting better. I only have one travel cage though. I think i will have to source a new travel cage from somewhere, only fair seeing as my vet doesnt charge me for visits.

It could be cateracts PinkEmily. Hamsters can often get these and I think snuggleham has just posted that she has seen a similar thing in her ham Diddy. There is nothing can be done for these and they do not really bother the hamster as their eyesight is poor anyway. Just be sure you don't change the cage set up around as they learn their way around their cage. Also it best not to have any levels they could fall off. It is sometimes related to diabetes. It would be good to take her in for a check if you are seeing the vets anyway. I hope she is better soon PinkEmily

ive just moved her into a gabber last week I removed the steps though because the gaps in the steps and level meant that her legs kept falling through. Ive noticed that shes been drinking a lot of water only this past week though. Its so difficult knowing if shes in pain. i always look out for if the lump is causing her problems, but shes still running on her wheel. and i have no idea where this scab keeps comming from, ive removed anything that she could have cut herself on. Maybe she just isnt healing??

Diabetic hamsters don't heal very easily Pinkemily. PM me your address and I can send you a dipsick to try and test her urine for sugar or the vet may have one. You can buy the test sticks in any chemist. Just ask for the diastix that humans use to test for diabetes if you want it sooner. If she is positive it can be helped by diet but she really is a good age now Pinkmily and she may not respond or even eat it. It is generally more for youngsters with diabetes to help them along. We always find they drink more as they age and this is due to the weakening kidneys. The cateracts don't hurt. The scab may be itchy and she is scratching at it and keping it open. I would get a vet to have a look. There ma be something that will soothe it.

If she does have diabetes is there anything at all i can do? Shes only a tiny thing and quite skinny. Ive been reading about lots of symptoms, some she has and some she doesnt. Running on her wheel a lot is one of them, so is mood swings, food is always on her mind. Im off to the vets on tuesday so hopefully i will find out if she has it, I will pop to the chemist and see if i can find any dipsticks, i think im going to test Dale aswel just to make sure. I will let you know if i cant find any Souffle, its very kind of you
