Blind hamster?
Hiya my roborovski, Frostie, we think is blind?
Mainly in one eye but when we put our hand near his eye he doesn't run away, this is in the right eye, but when we do it to the left he runs away, he does this because he is not tame. His smelling is really good so afetr about 10 seconds he smells us and runs off.
Is there anything I can do to make it easier for him?
Or more comfortable?
He is doing fine at the moment and is still running round haha, he is 1 in about April!

Re: Blind hamster?
He should be fine. If he can still see from one eye he'll likely just rely on that eye. It could affect his depth perception but beyond that I can't see it making a difference. One of my dogs lost an eye years ago and apart from looking a bit different he was exactly as able as any other dog

Re: Blind hamster?
Then there shouldn't be any extra care needed Just maybe avoid sneaking up on his bad side I guess

Re: Blind hamster?
My hamster is completely blind, and has been for about a year. He relies on our voices and gets along like he used to, we just give him flat surfaces, so no shelves or climbing. He uses his wheel still. We also never rearrange his stuff, so he knows how to navigate

Re: Blind hamster?
When Skip went blind he was fine, but he was blind in both eyes. We never changed his cage much and he was happy - he even had his shelves right up to the day he passed of old age in his sleep

Yes, two of them would obviously be ridiculous. For a hamster who is completely blind I would recommend these (and for musically-inclined blind hamsters, hamster parent should of course also consider coupling those with this).
