When Jackson had this, he slept in a house and so to limit disturbing him too much, I would lift his house out the cage, take the lid of it and take the syringe straight to him in his bed for water and liquid food (careful not to spill any on his bedding). Every hour at first I was giving him some water. The only time I left him non-interrupted was overnight. But if your hammy is severely dehydrated, its probably wise to give water through the night too. I found it best to syringe the fluids so you know for sure how much she is having. Foodwise, I got a liquid food (to make from powder) which is also a recovery food from the vet to give via syringe (looks and smells disgusting, but I was willing to try anything). I really hope she recovers and will be thinking about u both as I know how horrible an experience it is.

According to what I read last few days wet tail survival rate is very poor and a few/:/ which is really worrying me and I really do not like to see any animal suffering. I really wish I could do more for her! She sleeps all the time and just very thin(

I'm sorry to hear about Gertrude

I'm not sure if you should rest the tummy from food when they have wet tail or not. Someone who knows more than me will come along.

I just wanted to say I'm thinking of you

See they all ready have

I have to hold her in my palm and syringe everything as that's what vet told me. If I tried to give her in her cage I wouldn't know if she is taking in anything at all. She basically detests being disturbed or forced thing on her I think. But must remember she is very young and being living with me just week. So all odds are against her really. But I fully intended to do everything in my power to save her!

I'll have to ask about this liquid food from her vet Friday. I'm convinced she isn't eating anything at all! She seems to like baby oats food or at least I know she had 10gm today and I intend to give her in 30 min some more. I was hoping someone might come up some miracle cure answer but I guess there is none against this awful thing called wet tail. I really really hope no other hamster gets it!!!

I am so sorry that you are going through such a horrible ordeal with your little Gertrude.
She is very ill Tutu and the feeding may not be working as her bowel may already be so badly damaged that she is not able to either absorb food or move it through the system. When it becomes so bad there is no way way back and the system will just give up eventually.
A hamster with wet tail in this advanced stage really needs kept in at the vets and have subcutaneous fluid injected to keep her hydrated. She is not able to absorb the fluids just now so the syringing may not be hydrating her. They also need warmth and careful nursing. Even with all this the chances that they will make it are slim due to the bowel damage. A little one that does survive very often has a relapse shortly afterwards.
You are doing a wonderful thing in trying but the next time you hold her ask her what she wants to do. If she shows any sign on fight then keep at it but if she gives you a sign that she needs help to the bridge then know in your heart that this is the last great gift you can give.
Love also means letting go sometimes.
I hope she turns the corner soon for you but if that is not to be then I hope her path is gentle. It is certainly paved with love x

Something that can help with the diahorrhoea is arrowroot or arrowroot biscuits tutu. You can get these in the supermarket baking section. Make a paste with the arrowroot and mix in porridge. With a hamster this sick we would feed anything it would eat. Get a cube of chicken and some rice. Boil till very soft and mushy then cool and offer a teaspoon of the soup.
