Default Chewing

So I've bought my hamster a pack of sticks and I bought her a little ball with a bell in it for her to chew on and she has a little paper towel tube in the cage she chews on sometimes, too.

But she keeps chewing at her cage. I can't seem to really get her interested in the toys and she keeps chewing at the bars.

Am I buying the wrong type of toys, or is this normal? I'm worried it's not good for her to chew the bars.

Hi Brovenger,

What size & type is your cage? What sort of hamster do you have?

Sometimes hamsters chew the bars because their cage is not really big enough for them & they are frustrated. It's not really ideal for her to chew the bars in case she hurts her teeth. Some hamsters just can't stop this habit & a tank-style cage can be better for them.

Best wishes, shiny
