Re: Update: Cheeto's Finger
Cheeto came out for some cuddles tonight. She wanted me to take a picture of her for HC to show her gratitude for all the well wishes!

Not a silly assumption at all! I thought she would too but the vet said its pretty pointless because they will usually just chew it off anyway. So she just sealed the wound with some sort of gunk. Yesterday she was licking it and it turned her tongue black! But the vet had said that would probably happen and not to be alarmed.

Re: Update: Cheeto's Finger
Gutterglitterxx, if you don't mind telling us, I've socked away some cash for the vets when it comes to that, but I have no idea if I've put away enough, etc. I have $400 so far reserved for anything dire. Is that enough of a cushion? I suppose what I'm dancing around asking is, since you are in the US, how much did Cheeto's treatments cost? The vets here keep telling me "it depends" but I'm just looking for a ballpark maybe? TIA!

No, I don't mind talking about it.
I must admit, it has not been a cheap few weeks. From what I can remember.... Her initial exam plus pain meds and antibiotics was around $70. Her minor procedure of having the lump lanced was about $120. And this last surgery was the real whopper at around $300. It hasn't been easy but I couldn't possibly just let her suffer (although it didn't seem to bother her!)
But I would think in most circumstances, your fund is wonderful. I can't imagine anything being much more than this last procedure which includes the price of the biopsy.
It's been very stressful for me since I've had to make other sacrifices to care for Cheeto. But in my mind, she is worth it.

Re: Update: Cheeto's Finger
Question!
Just a couple minutes ago Cheeto came out of her nest for a pee and water. While she was walking to her potty, she was making a faint squeaking noise almost sounding like a hiccup. I have read that squeaking can be a sign of distress. Could she be in pain? I gave her the Metacam dose around 12 noon as directed. Should I be worried?

Re: Update: Cheeto's Finger
Ooh, hope all is ok and it's just the wound healing, and her testing her comfort zone as she begins to use that area more! I'm sure the vet wouldn't mind you calling to ask about this if you're concerned.
