Default Help! Wet tail...or something else?

One of my little babies scared me today (He is a 5-6 ish month old DWW)
I picked him up a few hours ago and the area around his actual tail (no so much his anal glands) was wet!!! I immediately freaked out but, once I calmed a bit I checked him and saw that his little tush isn't swollen, irritated, bloody, or even....wet! It was just a small area around his ACTUAL tail, so I don't think it's wet tail....

He has been eating, drinking and running normally and is super sweet and is still grooming regularly. Also, his poops are not discolored, runny, bloody, etc. Perfectly normal. Also, that spot started to dry and was practically gone within about 15ish minutes.

Do you think it is WT or maybe he just sat in a little bit of his wee (which, in his cage layout, is possible because he has a little shelf with no bedding and such) or that something is wrong??

I'm sorry if I seem ridiculous; I'm just worried about my babies and I'm still learning what I should and shouldnt be scared of!

Thank you so much!
D, Hamwich and Stevie!!

Hmm seems likely he could of just sat in his wee if everything else is normal! I would just keep an eye on him and if you get worried take him to the vets xx

Keep an eye on him, but wet tail is a type of runny diarrhoea that makes the bottom wet, so if he is producing solid poos that are normal shape and colour, it does not seem likely to be wet tail. If his poos start to look squishy or unusual, it would be worth a vet visit to get him checked.

There is a good article in the WIKI section about wet tail:

Most definitely! I just checked him again (the initial scare about about 4 hours ago) and he is all dry and just fine! Dry tail, normal anal glands and looking super confused as to why I kept turning him over! haha

Worried mama needs to just sleep, obviously, because my babies are ok!

Also, his poops are all normal! Not overly sticky, wet, etc. and no blood or mucus! I'm pretty sure he just sat in some pee--it was time for me to clean his bedding later so I went ahead and did that (and checked the poops-all were normal and the bedding didnt smell terrible like he had been having tummy troubles). He likes to sit/stand up on his hind legs to get attention at times so I think he just sat up in the wrong place!

I agree with everyone that it's probably wee... Especially if he has nice hammy poos!!
My old hammy Tilly used to frequently have a wet tail and legs from sitting in her own wee!!
