Re: HELP! My Hamster has Pyometra :-(
So sorry to hear about Luchie.
I've had 1st hand experience with Syrians who have developed Pyro in old age and I have to agree with everyone elses opinion.
The risks of the surgery outweigh not having it. I'd go with the Baytril 100% and enjoy spending the last of the time you have left with her.

Re: HELP! My Hamster has Pyometra :-(
Luchie is still on Bayril and is still happy and fine in herself - no more blood loss but is back to the vets tomorrow.

Re: HELP! My Hamster has Pyometra :-(
I am so sorry to hear this, pyo is not a nice thing to face, antibiotics only work for so long and its not always safe to operate, I had the tough decision last year with nemisis, who had age on her side, but was a teeny girl (didnt weigh her, but ild say not much over 100g)
I wish your little one lots of comfort and gentle cuddles, and hope that should she need your help to pass, you will know what to do x

Re: HELP! My Hamster has Pyometra :-(
Luchie is still very well and happy in herself but this morning when i went to give her the Baytril i noticed she is bleeding and this time it was quite allot I have booked an appointment at the vets for 3:20pm this afternoon. I think i will discuss a higher dose of Baytril with Galastop as suggested by a few people here. As she is 2 years old i am very reluctant still for her to have the operation as i dont want her last days/ weeks/ months filled with pain

Re: HELP! My Hamster has Pyometra :-(
I prefer not to put doses on a public forum so have PM'd them to you.
Thinking of you and Luchie x

Re: HELP! My Hamster has Pyometra :-(
Bless you Vectis - because of your message I was able to give my vet the dosage information and Luchie has now been prescribed Galastop and a higher dosage of Baytril - fingers crossed this may work for her as it did for your beautiful Hammy.
Thank you all for you help and support and kindness.
