The reason for Teeny being so submisive.
Not good news
Well i'v been trying everything to gain these little ones trust, and slowly getting there, this morning i had a quick check to make sure both are females and they are. the one i was worried about being so much smaller then her sister is getting thinner, when i was checking to make sure she was female i saw something. now its been a long time since i'v ad a hamster with wet tail but i'm nearlly 100% sure this is what im seeing, either that or a bad case of a bad tummy. the vets have nothing untill friday afternoon though.
Is there anything i can do untill friday to maybe help? i know the the outcome isnt always great with wet tail but theres always hope. Also do you think it would be better to seprate them both as her sister is showing no signs of being sick atall, but they do snuggle up together and not sure it i could make things worse by seprating them?
help please.

Tasha dwarf hamsters and robos do not suffer from wet tail which is a syrian disease so I would suggest that this is a digestive upset or some sort of infection. To be honest I would separate them in case but I know that will be very hard for you as it will make the little one feel worse. Are you sure it is diarrhoea as if you have a female it could be a womb infection (pyometra) which presents as a brownish or blood stained discharge and they can get quite messy and smell bad. Sadly it is not possible we have found to pull them through this. I would either call your vet again or find another as till Friday is way too long to wait with a sick small animal which can deteriorate markedly in a matter of hours never mind days. You should insist on being seen as a matter of urgency. In the mean time you should keep the little one very warm. A warm hot bottle or heat pad underneath the outside of the cage under the nest may help. Keep her hydrated with plain rehydration fluid mix and offer dry food and some plain live yogurt. You may have to feed this on a spoon or dropper to her mouth. I wish her a speedy recovery and hope you get a vet appointment soon

thank you for the advise, i didnt know they couldnt get wet tail, and it was a syrian hamster who we lost to wet tail, thank you for that.
I will phone the vets again first thing in the morning if no luck i will look for another.
I have tried to give fluids but as she still dosnt like to be handled its proving very hard to do this, and i will also try the plain live yogurt.
Thanks again.

Sorry to hear this tasha, Soufle has said everything really, just try to keep her as comfortable as possible.
It really is up to you with splitting them up - there are positives and negatives to both sides.
Let us know what happens.

Sorry i couldnt get on last night.
Well i did manage to get teeny to the vets y/day afternoon, they said its an infection but havnt given anything except some vitamins to put in her water, and they also gave her an injection of some sort. they have said no freash food untill all symtoms have cleared, i had to take all food away untill 4pm today and then only add some dry food.
I did manage to get her to drink a few drops of water with me holding her, then after that she has started to go and drink herself again which she wasnt doing before ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif) Shes still looking very poorly but were getting there.

Its horrible to see them so ill, im in a similar situation at the moment. Im guessing the injection will be antibiotics? You just have to take each day as it comes, it will be a long process but hopefully she will get better. Did the vets say when to take her back in to see them? Just make sure she fully heals, infections are very hard to shake off, i thought my little ham was over his infection but it came back even worse.

Poor wee lamb. You are doing the right thing and I am glad you got the vet to see her. Get well soon for both of your little ones.

Very sad update.
Teeny passed away Saturday morning ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif) she seemed like she was on the mend and more lively the night before.
We burried her in the garden, RIP little teeny.
