Cost of Vets

Normally my vet charges £13 for a consultation plus the cost of any meds, which I think is pretty reasonable.

I once once charged £52 for an emergency visit at a different surgery, that was a bit of a shock...

However, the worst quote was what they wanted to spay Romy when she got Pyometra - £200! It was a terrible dilemma, she was so special to me but I just couldn't afford that. The animal charities I contacted in the hope of them helping out were pretty useless too to be honest, it was a sad episode

Thanks for everyones response, you've all really helped! (I don't know where else i would be able to get such invaluable information and advice, I heart HC )
So i think what to take away from this is that usually the cost is ok but it can get pricey...

Haha, your right, i may need to stash some away in a secret piggy bank! Although if my hamster was ill and needed the money, i would happily live off beans for the rest of the year
