It was very obvious she was in pain, she was literally screaming and limping about all wrong, we took her straight to the vet. After the initial injury she would scream out sometimes when moving. It makes me feel sick when I think about it. Basically we got complacent. She wasn't the sort to throw herself off high ledges and we always let her on the kitchen table, surpervised, to join in with breakfast. She never attempted to get off the table except onto our laps and into my son's dressing gown. On this occasion she wandered near the edge, it is a round table and her back leg slipped over the edge, she lost her grip and slid over and I wasn't in time to catch her. It was extremely awful and was a lesson well learned, my hamster will now only come out on the floor my nerves wouldn't stand anything else.
Hampsey is fine now, able to do all the normal hamstery things really. You will always be able to tell she had the accident because she is slightly pigeon toed and very slightly weaker in the back legs than a normal hamster, but it doesn't hold her back any. We were very lucky and I hope this post serves as a warning to others.
It sounds to me like Hamchan is fine
