Re: Urgent help needed please
I am so very sorry but you did your very best for pinky and nobody could ask for more.
run free at Rainbow bridge little one and watch over those who loved you xxx
It can take about 10 days for a hammy to get over the loss of a cage mate so he may appear to sulk and be quiet. Try and keep up a normal routine and try to handle Perky and keep him busy with treat sticks etc. It is often a good idea to do a complete cage clean (this is not something I would normally recommend with a pair) as they may help him forget the scent of his bro and 'start afresh ' so to speak. I hope he settles soon xx
Hugs to your daughter x

Re: Urgent help needed please
Thanks souffle, as you said we do think he might be in a wee bit of a sulk, our daughter cleaned the cage out today when she came home from school, and we have said to her to play with perky every night and "spoil" him a little so he can settle.
Ami is in bed now and we think she is tired out with all the crying, she said that she wants to go and get perky a new toy tomorrow to cheer him up, so I think she is looking on the positive side.
Thanks.

It sounds like she's coping well, it's so hard on children to learn about these things. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Re: Urgent help needed please
I'm really sorry to hear Pinky didn't make it, I was hoping so much for better news, but sometimes the little ones are called back so much earlier that we would wish them to be. it sounds like you're done a great job explaining to your daughter in a way that helps her to understand and cope well with what happened.
Perky will be ok, he'll just need a little time. He will enjoy some extra fuss in the future for company, but with enough attention and toys he will cope well as a single ham.
Sleep tight Pinky xx

I`m so sorry to hear of your loss stella. I`ve just lost my little chinese female much the same way. Passing blood and within 24 hours, she was gone, even after seeing an emergency vet. It`s so upsetting. x
