Default Looking for help regarding a tumor.

Hello all. I'm hoping some knowledgeable people here have some advice about how best to deal with a tumor that my djungarian, Gir, has developed. about a month ago, she started getting a growth on the lining of her inner ear. It grew for about a week, then burst and bled a bit. I cleaned the wound, but the growth has remained, and every other week it breaks again. Is it possible to remove it? Or perhaps to tie it off so it won't bleed as much when it breaks open? Also, will it hurt her to let her clean the wound herself? I've been cleaning it with peroxide and an anti-bacterial ointment.

Here is a picture of it, a couple days before it last burst.

I would see a vet and have this removed. This sort of growth is not uncommon in dwarfs especially in the ear but removed early the op is usually very successful. They do keep bleeding and can spread down the ear canal and affect the ear itself so do it now before it spreads.
I hope you can manage to see a vet who will do this. My friend had her's done and the hammy lived a normal lifespan and it never came back.

Poor little thing I reccently lost one of my robos to a really bad tumor but it was under her front leg and inoperable. The first thing you should do is get her to a vet, they will try and perscribe antibiotics (baytril) and may say to put her on it for a week/2 weeks and see how things go but inquire about the possibilities of removing it as its appears to be on the outter ear it may be possible

I only ever cleaned Cookies tumor with warm salt water when ever it bled and its seemed to work well, keeping it clean did help though so carry on doing that bit yourself. Also keep her claws cut so that she doesnt scratch at it and make it bleed more, or worse infect it.

If for some reason it is inoperable then the best you can do is spend lost of time with her. In the worst case sceanrio you may have to chose to help her along eventually if the tumor starts causing her problems. This was the decision I had to make with Cookie as she could no longer walk and was in a lot of pain, however she did live three months happily with it so even if it does come to this you may still have a lot of time left.

First thing is first thoug, before you worry about anything like that get her to a vet and see what they say. Its not always as bad as you expect. Good luck

My Juno had one on his foot. It recurred three times at different points in his life. Every time it responded to Baytril. Pop her to the vet and let him take a look before it gets too bad. You may avoid surgery as Juno did. He lived to a good old age.
