The permanent divider thing might be worth trying if they liked living either side of one.

We've considered it as an option if Whizz and Muffin fall out and refuse to live together after that. We know they'd both be lonely so think it might be the best answer when hamsters want company but can't live together, I did the maths on it and half a ZZ2 each would be bigger than a mini duna with enough substrate. We can't be sure yet though as our two are just about avoiding separation at the moment.

Best of luck to you and both of the boys with whatever happens.

Yup, half a ZZ2 with ~3" of bedding is 315 square inches, and a Mini Duna with the same amount of bedding has 291 square inches. You don't get the shelf, but it can always be improvised with toys and accessories

I hope the boys will like living with the divider. They might regain some of their confidence if they know there are others of their kind around.

Oh Dasher
Stress can really badly affect their condition, so hopefully he will improve with a little bit of TLC x

He's had massive amounts of attention and fuss the last two nights, and I have to say he did seem a bit more relaxed tonight. One of his favorite things to do has always been to just sit like a big dumpling in his sand pit for a lovely snooze, he hasn't done it for ages so perhaps he wasn't feeling confident enough. he did tonight though so yay

He'll be weighed again Saturday, and he gets three times a week lump prodding lucky him

Awww, I'm glad he's doing fairly well so far

Keep us updated about him and the lump, I'm sure he'd want HC to know the results of his lump prodding, honest, especially when so many of us are concerned about him.

Aww, I hope they get the zz2, I do love seeing them snuggling together by the divider, like hamster prison
