Exclamation Bloody bum

Aw crap, I just took Carrot out of her ball and noticed her butt was wet. I flipped her over to take a peek and she has some blood on her hole.

Sorry it's blurry, she wouldn't hold still.

I saw a tiny bit of blood on a poo but it doesn't appear to be dripping or spreading. Help?

I should add, she had solid poos in the ball with her.

Hrm, could it be irritation from the wash? Just guessing. Or maybe she's been very smelly due to something bad happening down there (hence the blood).

Different hamster. This one hasn't been washed. There's no way she'd let me lol. I'd have no fingers left.

Is the blood from the rectum?
Does she have a swollen tummy?
If so then I'd be worried she has something making it difficult for her to pass poos. Or it could be an infection.

Definitley a vets trip, all the best x

She seems to be pooping just fine. I checked her over this morning and there is still a smidgen of blood but it mostly looks fine now. I didn't feel any lumps but I wasn't specifically checking for them. Tonight when I snag her I'll give her a good check over for lumps or swelling.

blood is not normal, which hole was it from? i would get her to the vets, it could very well be an infection, bleeding in hamsters is very serious as they dont have much blood to loose

It's from her anus.

She appears to be eating, drinking and pooping normally. She even had some exciting play time in the grass where she just took off running. I don't think she feels ill at all.

With any blood from that area, I think it's important to see a vet.

I don't want to worry you but my female Bo was bleeding from this area and seemed fine so I took her to vets just in case, she was very alert at the vets but went downhill fast.. she had an injection which I'm not entirely sure what it was.. the bleeding stopped a couple of days later.
She was an old hamster and passed away about a mnth after, but I was so glad she had some relief
