She seemed fine all last night. I had her out a few times in the night to give her some strokes, and she was up this morning having a rummage in her food. All seems well. Just a nasty fright.

Definitely no more climbing on mummy while we're not sitting down. Haha.

I really, really do want to thank you all though, it helped to have soothing words and not just the "You really need to be more careful with her" that I got from my OH, while I was pushing back tears (even though he was right).

Oh sweetheart, thank God Sen is ok!
I had Peggy jump out of my hands...a few times actually, I know how awful you feel but remember that its just an accident neither yours or Sens fault.

Hugs to you both xxxx

So I'm officially the worst hamster owner in the world. I put Sen up on the window sill while I was cleaning out her dirty corners, because she kept climbing out of the ZZ, and I figured she was safer on the window sill. I should have put her in her ball. I looked away for one second to put some bedding in the bin, and *thud* she was on the floor again, and uncurling herself, I freaked out. But it didn't seem as bad as last time.

But when she straightened her self up she was dragging her front left paw, or at least unable to put weight on it. I put her in her cage and was about to go and see if any vets were open at 11pm at night. But then I watched her for a moment longer and she was fine again... Washing her face with both paws, walking around normally. Like nothing had happened. And then she was PULLING herself up out of the ZZ again trying to come and see me.

I had my OHs cousin keep her in her cage while I removed her hammock and things, and have left her with the bare minimum cage (no wheel). She seems fine though. I keep going and checking on her (and have felt all her limbs and things) and this happened about an hour ago. I don't understand how she's okay.

I wasn't going to post this on here, because I don't want you guys to think badly of me. Maybe I should give Sen to one of you. She's going to die one of these days, and it's going to be my fault.

To prove she's okay, I took a few pics. She's quite hyper though (as she normally is) so it was difficult, coz I didn't want to harass her, and she kept trying to come out and I wanted her to rest.

"What?"

"I'm fine!"

"Let me come play!" (Sorry weird shot, I was focussing on going to get her but had already pressed the button)

"Fine, I'll go dig, since I'm not allowed a wheel!"

"I told you I was fine!"

So yeh, anyway, any offers to take Sen away from me as an unfit mother are welcome.

-.- I may send someone round, if only to slap you and tell you you're not an unfit mother.

Like children, hammies have accidents. It's not your fault, Sen seems fine. You love her and she's not going to die because, quite frankly, I don't think she'd let herself from something like a bit of a fall. She's just a bit too adventurous for her own good at times.

Hush you..to speak frankly...they are tiny, they are squirmy, they are FAST...we are busy and like children cannot keep our eyes on them 24/7.

I told you my bf let indy fall from the sofa TWICE in the l;ast few weeks..in the state that he is?!!!

They are hardy and we just have to be a little more thoughtful...i confess to poppin a ham on the sofa to quickly dash and get something, they sing to their own tune and you are NOT a bad hammy mummy AT ALL.

Stop beating yourself up, sen has forgotten, as should you.

on a side note, can i see a pic of your zz set up? x

Thanks guys. My OH has yet to give me a cuddle about the whole thing and only came in to say "Are you alright?... You really need to learn to be more careful with her.. blah" I only want a cuddle, I know I did bad. I'm gonna go check on her again.

AI, you wanna see a pic of the current (bare) set up or her normal one? This youtube video shows her normal set up.

What deep bit? :/ sorry, it's late Where the wheel sits or under her shelf? Sen dragged everything under her shelf herself. It's pretty much a lay out completely designed by Sen!
