Hugo, Fred and I all have our paws/fingers crossed that Indy still has a lot more time to spend with you, he certainly sounds like he wants to stay around for a long while yet!! xx

awww im so sorry to here about indy

i think i know what your going through i went through this with honey, i thought she was pregnant but i worked out the days and she couldnt have been because i never bred her i only had her for 5 months and just before she passed she had a very big stomach, not walking properly, sleeping all the time, her droppings were less than normal and she did pee alot! and drink every now and then, her food was just managing 2-3 big flakes in her food a day and it was a relief when she passed for her own sake, and there was constant yellow stuff on her foofoo valve, although your indy is a man, does he have anything around his genitals?

eventually when honey passed, i thought it was pyrometre but about a day after she passed my friends aunty was down their house the week honey died and she used to be a vet, pitty i didnt c my friend before honey passed >.<

anyway i told her about honey and she managed to do an autopsy, i had to b strong willed and watch because i wanted to know myself whats what to see how bad the thing was. (i know grusem as it is )

it worked out that honey had a tumor at the size of a golf ball in her small intestine, and nearly all her organs were wrapped around this big pinky yellow liquidy ball and my aunties friend said it must have been growing since i had her , and thats what made her look pregnant. when we managed to get the tumor out, honey look extremly thin after and when she cut the tumor in half the top was pinky white and right at the center was dark brown and a grass colour Green with little flecks of yellow. (sorry to the people reading this find a bit disturbing, i dont mean any sadness or off putting, im mentioning something that could be simular to poor indy
so after all that and a shock and sobbing for 2 days im glad honey went when she did and so that she didnt have to go through anymore pain

sorry AI if that was a bit off topic, although your hammy is 2 and a half years old u never know it could still have another year left in him but to put your mind at ease GO TO THE VETS!! and ask if they can give him an ultrasound or something to look at the insides of him and dont take NO for an answer! i should have taken honey earlier and i paid for it the had way, i dont know if what i said about honey helps but all in all i just hope ur hammy is just fat with a bit of arthritis and he still does things normal,

in the video of him walking. he was lost any feeling in his legs have he?

could that be diabetes or hip displasia? im still learning, give him a kiss n a hug for me all the best and keep us posted xxx

Thank you couchy for sharing, must ahve been horrible. While i could have it fully investigated what is growing inside of my little man there would be nothing they could do and the vet agreed it doesnt seem to be painful. x

I got indy out last night for a cage change and to see how he was-

The positives-

I have switched him to auboise hopefully wont clump is fur too much
He wolloped down some baby food
He is running around energetically
I have emptied his cambridge so he has no obsticles

The negatives-

His eyes closed up again so i will have to clean them daily now, they have both opened but i think he'll need it every day

His underbelly was smelly and he looked like he hadn't been able to clean himself or had wet himself a bit..so i had to try clean him a little..there was no pus or lump where it was

he appears to have lost the use of his back legs..im not so sure but my bf thinks so

My bf got very sad playing with indy, saying how upset he was lookign at his legs..he also let him fall off the sofa again to which this time mummy went mental...

still

he is very happy to be HOTM and thanks you all xxx

Hello AI, I am glad that Indy has a good appetite and is still energetic. I hope the thing with the legs is nothing serious, afterall, you didn't notice it and I imagine you know Indy better? All the best for little Indy, I hope he enjoys his hamstery things.

Maybe its best he plays with mummy only from now on, silly BF... glad he's eating well.. I'm sure his eye isnt bothering him too much, just means more bathing from mum as well as his underneath bits..
Is he going potty ok?
