URGENT: Broken leg?
Hi all, not been on in a while, but Harley's hurt his leg, I wasn't there when it happened but its all floppy, he wont walk on it and its at a weird angle, so i think it's broken
Ive got a vet appointment this afternoon and I was wondering what the vet will do, will he put it in a cast or will it have to be amputated?
Also does anyone have a rough idea of how much it will cost so I know how much money to bring?

Re: URGENT: Broken leg?
Sorry to hear about Harley becca and I hope your vet can do something for him. Leg amputations can be done on hamsters but obviously, that`s a last resort. Hopefully he`s just sprained it and rest will cure it in time.
Keep him on ground level for now but you already know that! Lower his water bottle aswell and give him a low level food dish (a ceramic flower pot/drip tray) is good as these are only 1" inch high. Or just don`t bother with a dish at all. He will manage fine without one.

Re: URGENT: Broken leg?
Thanks everyone, Ive been to the vets and left him there, they're going to give him a little general anesthetic to stop him wriggling and then they're going to try to put a split on him as its broken I know theres a risk with the anasthetic as he's almost 2 and he's so small, but hopefully he'll be ok, he's a fighter
Ive to pick him up later this afternoon

Re: URGENT: Broken leg?
Well I was back at school and my mum got a phonecall, he's ok!!!
He was fine with the anesthetic and he's got a wee splint on his leg. He keeps chewing it but ive to take him back on wednesday to get another one put on 'cause by that time they'll have got in a wee cone to put round his neck
