Default Rectal prolapse?

Having just checked porridge over I noticed he has what looks like a lump on his anus area
I've never noticed it before.
I know rectal prolapse can occur after prolonged diarrohea, which porridge occasionally gets soft poo and does have today. Although he usually goes back to normal after a day or so.
Hes running around like normal, eating, drinking and doesn't seem in discomfort, but I'm worried like hell!
Does anyone have any experience of this? I've read surgery may be the only option.

Thankyou Amy, I've had some advice from MAH and it does appear to be a minor prolapse
He may right himself, but if not he'll be going straight up the vets tommorow!
I've given him some treats after his playtime and sat with him. I've explained it all to him and told him I'm sorry I can't take him to the vets straight away.
I will be checking on him throughout the night x

Kind of looks like what Chewy has (edit - had, of course ), which the vets (2 of them) said wasn't a problem, and didn't exist, kind of like I was imagining it. But my friend who used to be a veterinary nurse said that hernias are quite common in hamsters and it could well have been that, and it was only peeping out when he slept as he was curled up. After a few moments of stretching out, it always vanished again. Chewy's was a bit bigger than this, but it seemed to cause him no problems at all. The only problem was me going spare over it, and worrying myself sick!

I did for a time wonder if it was a prolapse, but he never had any squishy poops or anything that was a precursor to one.

I'd love to tell you not to worry, and if he's quite happy and busy, I'd certainly suggest you don't freak out! But maybe take him in for a check up, see if they can give you a clearer answer than they did me.

Tickles to Mr Porridge x

Thankyou Sam
It doesn't seem to be retracting at all, Porridge has always had occasionally squishy poos and its never happened before. I can't help but panic, I nearly burst into tears when I noticed it, but I'll try my best not to freak out
Treo has given me a calming cuddle x

Sending lots of healing vibes to Porridge. I hope the vets will be helpful.

Please don't freak out Fluffpot, it's only tiny, I'm sure the vets can help out in the morning. If he's still doing his normal stuff, it's obviously not bothering him. The wee fella will be fine, I am sure x
